Mexicanwave is an independent magazine that celebrates Mexican culture, cuisine, and community. Our magazine is driven by a desire to share the wonders that Mexico has to offer. We immerse our readers into the colourful world of Mexico and highlight appreciation for its people and culture. Our magazine is designed for the culturally curious and those who have a taste for authenticity. While each issue may attract different audiences our loyal readers consist of those seeking a deeper understanding of Mexican culture. What makes our magazine stand out is its unique content, showcasing in-depth content dedicated to the culture of Mexico. Our issues will be categorised into specific topics to avoid repetitiveness. Mexicanwave is published quarterly, priced at £12 per issue, and is available to purchase from independent magazine shops like MagCulture in London, as well as through a dedicated website I created specifically for Mexicanwave issues.

About the mag
For this independent magazine project, I chose to create a magazine dedicated to showcasing the vibrant culture, history, and contemporary life of Mexico, naming it "Mexicanwave." I was inspired by Mexico's rich heritage, and my background – being half Mexican. By focusing on Mexico. My goal was to create a publication that not only informs but also inspires a broader appreciation for Mexican culture.
Design Process
The design process for Mexicanwave was both intricate and rewarding. To ensure the magazine's masthead authentically represented Mexico's unique aesthetic, I developed a customised typeface. I found that existing typefaces failed to capture Mexico as I had envisioned, so I crafted one that echoes the bold spirit of Mexico. The layout features a carefully considered grid system and typographic choices that enhance readability and visual appeal, ensuring that both text and images are presented in a compelling and cohesive manner.
