About the project
This project was a group collaboration to rebrand the Reading Climate Action Network (ReadingCAN). Our team aimed to modernise ReadingCAN’s visual identity and communication strategy to reflect better its mission of promoting sustainable practices and climate action in Reading.
By developing a fresh logo, cohesive visual style, and engaging brand communications, we sought to enhance ReadingCAN’s public presence, increase community engagement, and strengthen its digital footprint, ensuring the brand resonates with the diverse Reading community and supports its collective goal of achieving net zero by 2030.
For the redesign of ReadingCAN, we undertook extensive research to ensure a successful rebrand that resonated with the organisation's mission and values. Our process began by understanding key elements that should be incorporated into the new logo. We experimented with numerous designs, designing a symbol was particularly challenging, as capturing the essence of climate change in a single graphic was hard. We aimed to create an identity that was approachable and community-centred. The final design features a round sans-serif typeface that conveys warmth and has a welcoming appearance. The leaf in the counter of the 'A' not only symbolises growth and environment but also doubles as a candle flame, embodying hope and optimism. This thoughtful design reflects ReadingCAN's commitment to fostering a positive and proactive approach to climate action within the community.

The deliverables for the rebrand were designed to enhance visibility and engagement. A new website was developed to provide a user-friendly experience, featuring a refreshed visual identity and clear, accessible information on climate action initiatives. The social media presence, particularly on Instagram, was revamped with consistent branding to attract and engage a broader audience. Event collateral was a key focus, with pull-out banners designed to showcase their messaging at public events, along with personalised tote bags to promote ReadingCAN and provide attendees with a functional and reusable, branded keepsake. Additional event collateral, such as leaflets, lanyards, and volunteer t-shirts, was created to ensure a cohesive and professional appearance across all deliverables, reinforcing ReadingCAN’s commitment to fostering a connected and proactive community dedicated to climate action.
